H2H84 & November with Creatique Candy

Howdy Candies…tis been a bitty since I’ve traveled the blogosphere.  During the Holiday Season I tend to take a break away from creativity to spend quality time with my family.  So today I wanted to share the cute quick Christmas Cards I made for the H2H Challenge and a few more things that I have been doing along the way this month…

I truly enjoyed the soothing part of designing when I create.  H2H challenge this week helped me to do that and I found it to be soooo much fun.  I won’t be posting a list of items used here on the blog today, however I will update a recipe on the Creatique Candy FB page under the photos for you to gander if you wish.

Thanksgiving & The Joy of Cooking

The Family Feast

I could never understand for the life of me why my Mother always provided me with this book.  I do know it is the book of all books for cooking, however it is still all greek to me!  I have read thoroughly the index pages though. As you can see we prepared quite the feast for having 9 people.  I’m beyond thankful for the time our Family spent in the kitchen working together for this incredible meal.  My prayer is to make everyday of the year a day full of thankfulness and love and not just on Thanksgiving.

Impromptu Oregon Business Trip Fitting in A Beach Shot!

Out of nowhere and totally not planned at all we took an impromptu business trip to the Oregon coast.  What an incredible amount of quality time I got to spend with my beloved Husband.  This beachy shot just showed that as miserable as I was feeling, the weather being icky and chilly, despite the fact that I totally wanted to crawl right back into bed…I wouldn’t of traded all the prompting in the world by my Husband to just get in the car and see the beach!  So for all of you who are reading and live by the beach…I envy YOU.  I would totally be on that beach every single morning with my latte’ in hand taking a walk.  I love the sound of the ocean ripples, waves crashing against the sands, & of course I let my hair down since the week after we returned I cut it all off!  What a photo to keep forever.

I Sooo Miss the Greenery that Mother Nature provides!

The one thing I miss about living on the coast is Greenery!  Tons and Tons of transformations in color hues with the Autumn (which happens to be my favorite time of the year).  So now you know where I’ve been throughout November.  As a Thank You for following and reading along the next photo is a wallpaper version that you can download for your desktops.  Enjoy! & Thanks for Stamping By…

#’s H2H Challenge Happy Birthday - Accordion Pocket Card Using CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy

It took me a while to gather my strength for this project and I can’t wait to see the look on my Friends face when she sees it.  I watched a video tutorial last week on “Everyday Cricut” by the “Paper Boutique” in creating this adorable accordion pocket card with a pull out tab.  Now I don’t have the cricut cartridges she has however, I do have the best cartridge ever that allowed me to compensate a bit for this particular card that I created for a special friends’ 38th Birthday…the NEW Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

This is how the card looks when your recipient opens the card and takes it out…or when your getting ready to put it inside of the envelope.This is what the card looks like just standing up with the pull-tab slide inside of the pocket & the outside of the envelope.This is what the card looks like completely open with the slider out.  (I put a message on the opposing side of the slider to my friend)This is a close-up shot of the accordion part of the card so you can see how I applied the layers.  Notice the cupcake is popped up on the 2nd layer.

It was a lot of fun learning to play with the different dimensions on my E2. I was also able to finish up the challenge for the H2H #’s that was posted last week.  I have to admit I do have the cartridge that allowed me to do the inside slider title Someone Special, however, the rest of this card and the envelope were all created with the Art Philosophy Collection including the “Happy Birthday” embossed sentiment on the outside and using the shape-a-day post suggestion via Jeanette Lynton’s blog for the liner on the inside.  I hope you enjoyed viewing and feel inspired to create one of your very own.  Just click on the link above for the video tutorial via “Paper Boutique”.  The recipe is below…Thanks for Stamping By!

Recipe:

Z1686 "Cricut Art Philosophy Collection”

A. Envelope & Liner sized at 6”

B. 5 - Presents sized at 1.75”  alternating the gift wrap bow at the same size.  (The gifts will overlap a little on each edge just make sure your adhesive doesn’t extend)

C. The cupcake base is at 3” & so is the cupcake wrapper.  (I used black cardstock behind the wrapper to make it match and pop with the gifts).

D. I cut the Someone Special at 5.5”

E.  I used the Happy Birthday sentiment within the cupcake collection to emboss the outside of the envelope.

G1025 “Roxie” WOTG – Used the “Bling Assortment”, Black Cardstock, Tulip or Sorbet (I had extra Tulip cardstock), & for the Background & Texture paper I used the plaid & rose sides.

Z1335 Licorice Opaque Adhesive Gems (Used the bitty black to scatter as sprinkles and highlight opposing sizes on the bows to the gifts.)

Z1104 Sparkles

Z1450 Color-Ready Alphabets Cork (I blot sponged the cork letters with black staz-on ink & used the circles from inside of the letter/#’s for a couple of the sprinkles)

Tools & Extras: Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Black Embossing Powder, Embossing Gun, Bone Folder, Micro-Tip Scissors, Scor-Pal, & E2.

H2H Challenge Halloween/Autumn Project

H2H Challenge Lay-Out With A Story!

This weeks challenge is From Our Heart To Yours “Lay-Out with a Story”

I confess I’m guilty of not creating many scrapbook page lay-outs because I am a 3-D, mixed media, card, and home-décor kind of gal.  So this week taking the plunge into story telling was a true challenge for me and I have to admit not only was the challenge enjoyable but it allowed me to create a keepsake of our sweet daughter many years later doing the same thing as she did when she was a babe’.

Here's My Story From Our Heart to Yours:

Several years ago when I started as a CTMH Consultant, during one of our summer Idea Book releases I created my first intricate sewing machine lay-out using “Boom-Di-Ada” with our darling daughter picking, sniffing, and at that age snacking on a flower (dandelion) she found in our landscape.  Here is a very old pic (my apologies about the quality of the photos in advance).
It amazes me each year to see the different things she discovers and learns about.  K is one of our little miracles and I mean that in every sense of the word.  If you read my last post about artwork that I hand drew and created through a tragedy then you can understand more why.  One of the things K has taught us over the years is to appreciate all that mother earth has surrounded us with.  She also taught Daddy a lesson in expressing love.  Affection or terms of endearment is not one of his stronger suits and yet K has seemed to touch some part of his heart that allows him to do just that. 

Ever since she was a bitty babe’, Daddy would go out on random days to find the prettiest flower to pick for her and put it in her hair or hat (she was a baldy for years).  I’ve enjoyed watching K frolic in the landscape where we live.  As she grows older I continue to capture random moments of her enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer and of course now, when she does go out into the landscape to find and pick her very own “Flower”!  Re-creating this cherished memory in a new lay-out was a lot of fun to do.

This is her Flower Find…I also did a poem in the lay-out for her to see and always treasure.

H2H Sketch76 Challenge - Cricut Art Philosophy

With Blogtoberfest underway & Creatique Candy honored to Sponsor the October 2011 H2H Month long challenges, I wanted to jump right in with the new H2H Sketch 76 challenge this week.  I have to admit this is the first sketch challenge I've ever done for a 6"x6" card.  I've had my eye on the "Dreamin" paperpack for a while, along with the gorgeous embellishments that accompany it; "Harvest Charms".   It was a lot of fun to design!  
I used our exclusive Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to create the side panels with the zip strip border as an overlay.  I cut the border at 1" which gives a approx. 1/8" over 6" which is easy to cut down to size.  I also used 3 types of flowers for the cluster ensemble at the bottom corner.  Honestly, I couldn't of cut it any other way. :) Then I inner-weaved the mid-section with our colonial white organdy ribbon.

 Total View & Close Up of the flower clusters that I used our Create-A-Shade Pearl paint with Crystal Blue re-inker and spritz pen on the flowers to give it a pearlesque kind of look.

This is the first card that I did not incorporate any stamping on the outside as the Birdy Harvest Charm was a gorgeous focal point, plus the card can be used as an any sort of sentiment card.
