Day 5 “Creative Chemistry 101”– Journey

Howdy Candies…Today is officially Day 5!  I wanted to just take a moment & give a HUGE Hug to all of you who are following along & have left the wonderful comments, feedback, and e-mails.  It means the world to me to read your thoughts.  It’s like having creative comfort food of sorts.  It’s fuel that challenges me to step outside of my box and embrace a concept I’ve had difficulty grasping in the 8+ years I’ve been creating art.  So again, a very HUMBLE Thank YOU to each & everyone of you that have taken the time to reach out.

This goes hand-in-hand with a very important lesson I’m learning on this journey that I didn’t delve into in my last post: It is to “Embrace My Imperfections” or those within my artwork.  Imperfections within an original art piece is what makes it authentic, plus the word used widely at CU 2012; “organic”.  I never truly had an artistic understanding of this until these last few weeks as prior to this I’ve always felt that I couldn’t post or come up with one until I had my artwork completely finished and it was just ‘Perfect’.  Well now from my perspective, perfection & beauty are always within the eyes of the beholder.  So without further ado Photos:

Technique Collage I created in my PSE9 program to show what I learned with Close-Ups of 3 Different Techniques:

Here are the Tags I did for reference:

Day-5-Technique-Tags

Technique #1 – I truly only have 3 Distress Stains “Broken China”, “Peeled Paint”, & “Vintage Photo”…so I played with it a bit.  I LOVE both of the outcomes!

Technique Tag #2 – Now this one had me stumped!  Seriously it should be easy as pie right?  After all I’m just swiping various colors together…but for me using a white pigment ink isn’t as easy as it looks & especially stamping with it – So I figured I would photo all 3 of these together & perhaps get Your thoughts? Technique Tag #3 – This is a FUN technique, again using the white pigment distress ink.  Because I used various stamping I didn’t take original photos of the background as it took me 4 tries to get this effect from swiping on my craft sheet…it’s hard to do with only 3 colors and a pigment, TRUST ME, though I made it work & now I’m adoring the outcome.  Back to that “embrace my imperfections”…

I’m still in the learning process & can’t believe that it’s been 5 days now & I only have 6 more to go.  I think it’s also the first time I’ve ever done a creative posting series of sorts on the Candy homepage.  I’m not sure if we get a weekend break or not…what I do know is that I’ve got a creative itch to just Play!  I can’t wait to put the things I’m learning into cross-over projects using CTMH products & share them with you.  Thanks ever so much for Stamping By…
